Ooo, demo work! Is it currently separating a living room from the kitchen? Since the beam goes right through it is the though that it wasn't there originally? Maybe you could leave it a half-wall? Or are you wanting to open that whole floor space up more?
Correct - it separates the living area from the kitchen. And it will go down to a half wall so we can keep cupboards underneath. We plan on making a breakfast counter sort of area here with stools. And the beam is - get this - fake. It isn't structural. This wall is actually what is holding up the ceiling. So putting a proper beam in is actually the first task.
