And that about sums up my attempt at riding the 24 Hours of Light solo this year. Overall it was a good experience and the course was quite a lot of fun. I'm too tired to do much of a report, but I did want to post this photo that Sierra took of me during my lap in the Africa Bike. That's a 60lb cruiser with a blow up doll taped to the back. Good times!

Speaking of Sierra, my TR partner, she rocked this event: 13 laps and she's rockin' both the up and downhills. I've got some work to do over the next few weeks to catch up!

Happy Solstice everyone! I'm kind of bummed that's it's not gloriously sunny out at the moment. I want to soak in as much of today's 19 hours and 10 minutes of daylight that I can. We're celebrating with a solstice ride up Grey Mountain. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain!

Thrift Goodness

My closet just got a wee bit cooler this week. Although I look slightly stunned in the below photo, I am actually tickled to bits to be holding a package from Minnesota that contains personally shopped secondhand goodies.

This pile doesn't even include the awesomest parrot dress ever. But it gives you an idea of what I might be wearing to work over the next few days. My fave detail? That brown and white floral button down on which is printed, on the inside hem, "Klopman Mills Div. Burlington Industry Inc 1972." How cool to be able to date my clothes like that!

Another Saturday Ride

It was another gorgeous day in Whitehorse. Gawd I love summer here! Had a really, really fun ride today. I'm pleased that I can now call 6 hours on a trail "fun!" I'm also quite pleased that while my toe complained about being squished into my bike shoe, it ended up not hurting all that much once I got riding.

Here are a whack of photos today. We rode several different trails for about 50km in 6 hours.

I'm feeling kinda down these days. Not entirely sure why. I could blame it on my busted toe:

(likely just the distal phalanx- meaning, nothing serious, just the last bone in my pinky).

Or I could blame it on my complete inability to sleep again this summer:

(our bedroom at 11pm with the blinds closed).

Or I could blame it on the rain. Not really, we had one day this week and it helped the trails. I just liked the Milli Vanilli reference.

I am your hangover morning

Anyone else totally sucked in (pardon the pun) to True Blood?
When I first heard about it and the show was described as "a lot of vampires and sex" I was kind of like "yawn" but I have to say.... I love it! It's campy enough to make me laugh, but the characters are actually pretty interesting and the actors are really quite good. Ben and I watched the first two seasons in about 2 weeks (which is kind of par for the course in our tv watching world).

Anyhow, season 3 begins sometime this month and I am going to have to find time to watch it this summer. But what I wanted to highlight in this post is actually a song from the soundtrack that I can't get enough of these days. I mean, I am listening to this over and over and over again when I am driving. Waaaaay back in December I said I was going to create a 30 song playlist of my favourite tunes. I think I managed to list 6. So, continuing on that theme I bring you this bit of fabulousness from the True Blood soundtrack.
